PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY FROM THE EYE OF A MASTER

Stephen Polliack got his first camera at age 13 and his first assignment – a wedding shoot – at age 16. During his national service in the military during the 70's he was attached to the Law Office at Wits Command as the unit photographer where assignments included top brass functions and documenting crime scenes, attack training and various military hardware.

After completing a BA (Fine Arts) at Wits University, Johannesburg he joined the chamber of mines as their official photographer. Stephen then went on to work as photographic advisor, running photographic courses at various stores such as Dions, Miltons and Photocats.

He joined the Professional Photographers of Southern Africa, the official body of Professional Photographers and then completed a two-year diploma in photography at the National College of Photography and in his spare time did fashion, function, food, product and event photography.

Since taking up photography as a full-time career, Stephen has completed assignments for an impressive and varied client list including Namibia Breweries, Gappa Fashion, Ice Modeling, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Mean Mr Mustard, Dr Victor, Something Fishy, Mr Price, LG, Samsung to name few. One of his photographs – a close-up of an Alfa Romeo grill – hangs in the entrance of the car maker's head office in Milan, Italy.

He works from his home in Sydenham, conveniently situated in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg.
